FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How much is a session?

$90 per hour with one of our exceptionally qualified engineers for recording, mixing, and mastering. We have a 2 hour minimum, and require a 50% deposit to reserve the session. We also offer discounts when booking larger blocks of time.

Can I bring my own engineer to record my project?

We allow qualified recording engineers to rent our facility and work with their clients; if we can determine they are capable of operating the equipment properly, and with care. We would ask to speak with the engineer before the session was booked to make an assessment. If approved, we would provide a studio assistant familiar with the equipment to help ensure a smooth session.

Is mixing and mastering included?

Recording, mixing, and mastering are all billed at the same rate of $90/hour.

What’s the difference between mixing and mastering?

Glad you asked. Mixing is the process of taking multiple layers of audio, known as tracks or stems, and adjusting them using various processors and effects so that they blend together nicely. Once the various tracks have been mixed so that they sound good together, the sum of those tracks, sometimes referred to as a stereo bounce, is also processed using various dynamic and frequency based effects to further enhance the overall mix of the song. This process is called mastering. It is in this stage that a song gets its final, polished, loud and powerful sound.
